Club Notes - October 30, 2019

We had a nice turnout for our Halloween party this afternoon. We welcomed back several snowbirds and gained a new member. There was lots of great food, items to show, and fun games.  We didn't have many costumes, so no vote taken.  I came as a modern witch, maybe someone from Harry Potter.

Show and Tell:

Anne Knoff showed a Christmas pillow she embroidered. She watched a YouTube to learn how to make the ruffled cuff.

Judy Mayer has kept very busy while she was up north for the summer. She came back with 20 fidget walker bags!!

Carol Lamb came with several pillowcases.

Pat Pipa showed her Christmas Tree wall hanging.  She also made 2 fidget walker bags and a zipper bag.

Deb Chapman made a scrap bunny and a dinosaur.  She also made a set of 4 matching red, white and blue dryer sheet blocks.

Mic Pickard made 2 dinosaurs and a purse with removable insert.

Diane Placek made a walker bag.

Eileen DiSanto  finished a stuffed frog.

New member Kiki Mitracos showed an apron with pockets for pens, paper, phone or other items you may need. She also made a tote and 2  bags perfect for carrying just a phone, a little money and your id. (All of these will go to the Ocala Shelter).

Audrey Phillips showed several decorative towel toppers.

Lynn Delgado showed 2 of the vests she made for family members when they go somewhere there is a crowd.  These make it easy to find each other.

Carol Riggs showed a round placemat she made.

I made a walker bag and tried out embroidered animal faces on several stuffed animals.

I also showed a quilt I put together from our stash of 3.5 inch blocks.

*******************************

After lunch I handed out a new Halloween trivia quiz with 30 multiple choice questions.  Diane Placek won first prize with 25 right.  Alice Meunier got second with 23.  We finished with several games of Halloween bingo.

Thanks to everyone who helped clean up after the party.  We have a reputation for leaving the room the way we found it and I very much appreciate the help.

Next week B.J. Herter will show us how to make a fabric collage using a pattern of your choice.  I sent out several ideas a few weeks ago, but any drawing you like from a coloring book will work fine.

I will send a separate email with a supply list.

Hope to see you all next week.
