Club Notes - Oct 9, 2019

It was another busy afternoon at El Santiago. We welcomed back another of our snowbirds, Brenda Severa. I did a quick explanation of how to make a loyalty card holder.  The basic instructions are attached to my email.  I gave those in attendance a couple of ideas on variations.

There are 2 events coming up to benefit charity work.

Busy Hands, Happy Hearts is running a sale at Coconut Grove on Monday from noon to 2:30 PM

Audrey Philips told us about the Girl Scout Alumnae fundraiser to collect pajamas for the 6,000+ needy children in the tri-county area.  There are bins at all the rec centers and a fundraiser at Mulberry on Nov 13th.  The flyer is attached to my email.

Show and Tell:

Carol Lamb showed some bibs,

a tag blanket

and a lamb book for her new grandchild

and a towel apron for the parents to use when bathing the baby.

Audrey Philips showed a quilt that is a work in progress.

Pat Pipa showed an apron and a clothes saver for Busy Hands,

a zipper bag and a quilt top for our charities.

Charlotte Cecilio made 2 more red, white and blue dryer sheet sets.

Carol Thurston made a thread catcher and some matched red, white and blue dryer sheet blocks.

Deb Chapman and Eileen DiSanto finished their candy zipper bags.

Marti Rhyne made a couple of towel scarfs.

Anne Korff Made a stack of pillowcases and some baked-ribbon decorated kid's clothes.

I showed a quilt I finished for one of the Youth Ranch graduates next spring.

After today's demo everyone got busy as always and had lots of fun.
Next week we will be making stuffed toys again.  I will bring some of our regular patterns and Ellen Hein will show us a new easy one.  I will bring stuffing and fabric to choose from.

See you next week.
