Club Notes - Oct. 24, 2018

Lots of great food and fun this afternoon.  Today's games were Florida trivia and Halloween Bingo.  I selected 30 questions out of a set of 250 I found online and stumped almost everyone.  Susie Pendry got the most right answers at 19.5.

Announcements:

Pat Pipa talked to Nita Hand.  Her first knee replacement surgery went well and she is recovering well, with lots of attention from her family.  She has to wait at least 6 weeks before they will do the other knee.

We have a new supply of batting for charity quilts.  A person who wishes to remain anonymous has purchased a 90 inch by 40 yard bolt for our club's use.  If you have a quilt top for charity and need batting, just let me know the size and when you will be at one of our club meetings.

Lynn has established a contact who is collecting quilts for the families around Panama City whose homes were destroyed by Hurricane Michael.  I had 7 quilts I was holding to bring to the Ocala Shelter, but decided to give them to Lynn for this post-hurricane collection.  Those families lost everything and are living in tents on the concrete slabs that used to be their homes.

If you have a quilt to donate or can make one, Lynn will be collecting them between now and November 14th.  She will then deliver them to the woman collecting them, so they can get to Panama City by Thanksgiving.  If you would like to take some of the fabric blocks or panels we have and put together a quilt, you can pick them out next Wednesday and take them home to work on.

The Boggy Creek Bear ladies are coming back in January and they have asked for their shelf in the storage closet back by December 1st.  That means I will have to take half of the boxes of fabric we have at El Santiago out in November.  If you think you can make a quilt, pillowcases, placemats, or fidget walker bags from any of our supplies over the next few months, please take the supplies you need home so I will have a little less to go into storage.

Show and Tell:

Bev Minnerly finished 4 place mats for the Sheriff's Youth Ranch.

Pat Pipa showed a mouse ornament and 2 crocheted children's purses for Busy Hands.

Donna Rissman showed a Halloween purse she made

Deb McCuiston showed 2 pillowcases she made.  (These were her first ever and she did great!)

Susie Pendry showed several table runners and a bench-pillow cover.

(In full Minnie Mouse costume) I showed the set of 12 place mats I finished.

For next week, I have a pattern for a cornucopia.  I will send out a supply list for that in a later email.

See you next week.
