Sep 7, 2016 Club Notes

I am happy to see our show and tell list is growing. I love seeing so many projects each week.  We all admire the effort that went into them and learn something from each one.

Here's this week's Show and Tell:

Donna Rissman came in at the beginning of the meeting and showed a few of us her great Halloween table topper.  She had to leave before the actual show and tell started, but I got a photo of her project.

B.J. Herter made a large mesh bag for her granddaughter who is off to Moravian college in Pennsylvania.

Lu Karatzas showed her completed wreath wall hanging and a memory pillow she made from a close friend's favorite shirt.

Carol Riggs made 2 wreath wall hangings as gifts for some friends.

Marty Rhyne wrote down that she was going to show "stuff".   She brought out a purse she finished, some place mats made from fish fabric panels and an assortment of great coasters.

Nella Rose wowed us with a Dresden flower wall hanging and a hexie quilt she is making by hand.

Eileen Navikas showed a fidget quilt and several children's clothes she is making for her sister to take on a church trip to the Haiti.

Pat Pipa showed a fidget quilt and her completed wreath wall hanging.

Suzanne Brown  brought her latest embroidery projects - a Disney zipper bag,  a Halloween wall hanging, and a table mat with embroidery machine quilted blocks.

I finished off with my wreath wall hanging.

At the end of Show and Tell I turned it over to Nita Hand.  She brought a big stack of re-purposed denim and accent fabric for everyone to make their own bottle caddies.  It looked like everyone had fun with this project.

While everyone was busy cutting, ironing and sewing, I tried an experiment.  I had ordered a projector and screen from the rec center, and successfully hooked it up to my pc to show a YouTube. This was a video on zig-zig binding and a woman who does art quilts.  A few ladies settled in to watch the video, while others listened to it in the background.  I think the experiment was a success and we may do it again sometime.

Next week we will make 60 degree table runners.  This is an easy project to do, but takes border fabric to come out right.  I sent the supply list out in an email.  If you didn't get the list and want to try this fun project, let me know.
