Club Notes - December 17, 2025

There were 16 of us at today’s meeting.  I brought a bag of items that were donated yesterday and the last of the stuffing I had.  The Christmas fabric and ribbons were left at the rec center last week, so we put them out.

We are out of stuffing and batting, so I ordered some of each.   Allamanda paid for the batting again.  The stuffing will come out of our charity funds.

Mic has been busy delivering as much as possible before the end of the year.  12 quilts, 11 pillowcases, and 6 gift bags went to the Christian Care Center in Leesburg.   I gave Mic 44 stuffed toys to give to the Villages Hospital this week.  Mic is also going to make another dog bed delivery this week.  The nurse we deal with in the maternity and pediatrics sections says that she has not received the last items we gave her yet.  So, we will wait until she receives the first set of quilts, etc., before we give her the rest.

Show and Tell:

Lorraine Manz is still working on some of the quilt UFOs.  She made two more quilt tops this week.

Bev Minnerly showed a baby blanket and bib,

and a pocket book.

She also showed an apron she found in her stash, that she made in 7th grade.

Also, Bev showed a dino that Kathryn Jeter made and gave her to hand in.

Mic Pickard showed potholders she made for her daughters

and napkins for her granddaughter.

Louise Stem made 2 valances that a visiting friend is going to help her hang. She also showed some ornaments .

Ceal Pedersen is away, so she gave Eileen DiSanto the latest bunch of animals.

Carolyn Grasso made several 9-patch squares.

Shirley Fiorentino showed a shirt she made for her husband.

 and a dress for herself.

Ellen Hein showed 3 quilts that she completed the binding on. One was from Khaki.

The green and white one was a group project.  Various members sewed the blocks and I sewed them together.

The third one is one I made from one of the patterns in my 3-yard quilt book..

I showed 2 completed Christmas tree gift bags

 and 4 embroidered gift tags.

This was the last meeting of 2025.  In January I plan to start bringing in the accumulated 5” squares.

The quilt guild runs a Quilters Closet and Notions sale on March 7th, and I am planning to reserve a table.   At this sale, no finished items can be sold, only extra fabric, tools, sewing machines, etc.  can be sold.  We have SOO much fabric, much more than we can ever use.  I am thinking that we can sort the 5” squares into piles of 10 or 20 and sell them to reduce our stash and add a little money to our charity fund.  We might also be able to sew some of our other fabric, such as 1 yd cuts, but I need to give that some more thought.  I don’t think I will be able to run a table at the fall craft sale in 2026, so, unless someone else wants to take charge of that, this will be our only fundraising event in 2026.

That’s all I have for now.  Have a Happy Christmas, Hanukkah, or whatever you celebrate, and a Happy New Year.  Whatever your plans, stay safe and I hope to see you in January

Lois
