There were 13 of us at today’s meeting. I reported that I gave 11 quilts to Project S.O.S. The Wildwood Soup Kitchen is making progress in finding a new building. They have raised $60,000 of the $1.5 million they need, and they have found a potential building for purchase and remodeling to their needs.
Today Mic and I brought all the Christmas fabric that we have. I gave a brief demo on how to make a gift bag
look like a Christmas tree. After show
and tell, everyone got to select fabric and make their bags.
Show and Tell:
Donna Rissman showed a couple of the baby quilts made by the Moyer Citrus Quilt chapter. She gave 24 of them to Mic before the meeting. They will be delivered to Waterman’s Hospital, along with the ones selected for them last week.
Ceal Pedersen brought in the latest batch of stuffed toys.
These will go to The Villages Hospital.
Lorraine Manz is still working on some of the quilt UFOs. She made another quilt top by adding around the remaining 4 star blocks.
She also made a quilt top with a stack of fan blocks that came in the last donation.
She also showed a couple of animals made by Carolyn Grasso.
Eileen DiSanto showed a bunch of animals that she cut out over the past week.
Nancy Miller made a bunch of pillowcases from the fabric she got at Mic’s house a few weeks ago.
Diane Placek made 2 stuffed turtles.
I took some time last week to make a purse,
a frog,
and a couple of gift bags.
I also designed a walker bag for my new stand-up walker to my own requirements. The design is based on the pattern for a foldable fabric box,

Eileen St Clair showed a bunch of quilts that either she or Ellen Hein completed the binding on.
The first one is a quilt that Eileen made. There is a special photo block from her father-in-law in the quilt.

There is a story behind the quilt: The block was a photo copy of a painting her Father in law drew. He was a commercial artist for the Chicago Tribune. His wife and he went to see the movie "Seven White and the Seven dwarfs",she fell in love with sleepy so he drew the picture and it hung in the boys bedroom. Eileen was gifted the drawing which was framed .She transferred the picture to photo transfer paper to make a quilt for a grandchild. Since she has no grandchildren she decided to use it in a quilt for another child. Her father-in-law lived with them for 3 years before his demise. Drew many pictures for his grandkids.
The rest were a mix of quilts by Ellen, Khaki Quilters, and some donated by Annette Reddy.
Next week will be the last meeting of 2025. I left the Christmas fabric and ribbons in the rec center closet. Anyone who wants can use some of that fabric then. It will be a free sew week.
I’m attaching a copy of the Christmas Tree treat bag pattern
from SewSheCan to my email. This is the small, treat
bag version. I talked about how to make
a larger version from 2 fat quarters, but you can make this almost any
size. If you don’t like snaps (like me)
you can use Velcro, a button, or a hook and loop.
I hope to see you next Wednesday.
Lois
