Club Notes - May 3, 2023

15 ladies joined our afternoon fun.  I shared several photos of potholder designs I found at Anniescatalog.com.  These were books which can be purchased and downloaded.  There are a lot of great ideas that would sell well at our October sale.

Some of our newer  club members had questions regarding the difference between the various sales that we can participate in, and I tried to explain.  The craft sale we usually sell items at is run by QGOTV, is at only one rec center,  and only people with Villages IDs can come in.  The 2 sales run by The Villages is much larger.  They have a lottery for getting a table at one of 3 rec centers. Each of these rec centers can support 100 vendors of all type of crafts and anyone can come in regardless of whether they live in The Villages.

There was also some discussion about what QGOTV is and what the chapters we refer to are.  My email about the batting was the impetus of this for a few who didn’t understand our club’s relationship to the various quilt guild chapters.

Show and Tell:

Louise Stem didn’t have any finished items to share but instead shared her joy in being able to find Christmas fabric in her stash that had been purchased years ago and misplaced in her move.

Eileen DiSanto was very busy sewing this week  She made a dino,

Christmas Tree placemats,

2 totes,

and some microwave bowls.

Deb Chapman showed a bag she made

and another one found at an estate sale for $1
She also talked about the little card holders she makes
and the hex trivet, which she will show us how to make in a few weeks.

Carolyn Grasso showed the quilt top she made from a panel she got from our stash last week.

Jean Peters made 4 clothing protectors which will go to Busy Hands.

Ceal Pedersen showed some Christmas placemats she turned in

and a baby quilt she made.

She also returned 24 stuffed toys that she painted the faces on.

Audrey Phillips showed some mini table runners

and a full runner she made.

She also showed a round card holder.

I showed some potholders I made from an Autumn themed panel.

Ellen Hein showed 3 completed quilts from our assembly line.
The first quilt top was made by Deb Chapman.

The second was an honor flight quilt I made.

The third top was made by Carolyn Grasso.

Ellen then showd a bunch of quilt tops that she turned in with flannel backings so no batting is needed.

I will quilt these and give them back to her for binding.

+++++++++

Everyone had fun going through the available fabric to make potholders, placemats, etc for our October sale.  I am expecting to see lots of lovely items come back.

Next week we will continue to make toys and sale items for another week.  These projects are doing a great job of using some of our fabric stash.

Hope to see you next week.

Lois
