We had a lively group this afternoon, lots of laughter, especially from the table near the door.
I brought the 5" squares, the big blocks, and a box of partially started projects that we have found in our donations. We also received some new donations, including some large pieces of fabric. Mic brought the bins of larger pieces as well for everyone to look through.
Several ladies brought in completed curtains for the Youth Ranch cabin project. I will give a status on that separately.
Show and Tell:
Eileen DiSanto showed a quilt top she made.
Deb Chapman made a pillowcase
and 2 quilt tops.
A friend gave her a
challenge for the 2nd one: pre-cut pieces she had to sew together, all
using curved piecing.
Donna Rissman turned in a pillowcase
and showed 2 projects she will be giving a demo on in the future
- a
felt bunny in a carrot
and a easy-fold box or purse (whatever you want
it to be.)
She also made some clothesline bowls, which Audrey showed for
her.
Mary Ellen Boutin made a tote and a quilt top.
B.J. Herter finished her kissing Fish mug rugs
and made a couple of flannel baby quilts.
Ellen
Hein showed the quilts she finished the binding on over the last two
weeks.
Donna Rissman made this one.
I'm not sure who made this one.
I think I made this one. At least I added the border
Deb Chapman made these two.
This one was done by Mary Ellen Boutin.
Ellen also showed some fleece blankets
and Hospice quilts she
made.
She also took some scarves from our donation pile and made a quilt top.
Audrey Philips showed 2 rope baskets she
made and embroidered the bottom of.
She also showed one her daughter
Lynn made for a son-in-law retiring from the Navy.
Ceal Pedersen made a couple of tote bags using some large fabric prints found in our donations.
Liz Manzione made a pillowcase and finished a fleece blanket.
Pat
Pipa showed the wall hanging she made for the Allamanda 2021 challenge,
which was to make something to represent a movie title pulled from a
hat. (Her movie was Up, of course.)
She also showed a fidget walker bag
and an apron she made in a class at Allamanda last week.
***********************
I
gave a short demo on how to make a butterfly potholder. I modified the
instructions I found to allow the project to be done on a sewing
machine instead of by hand. I will send a copy of the instruction, with
my change notes written on it, in a separate email.
Our
next meeting will be on March 30th, and it will be the last one in our
winter room. The following week, April 6th, we will be back in the Hula
Lounge and will resume meeting every week. To celebrate, we will have
our spring potluck on that date. Here is our tentative schedule through
the end of May.
