Club Notes - March 3, 2021

We were back in El Santiago this afternoon, in our winter room.  Ann Knoff brought some scraps for us and another lady I knew from the MEQ club gave us several boxes of "stuff", which several ladies sorted through.

I initially said I hadn't heard any status for Bev Minnerly, but I received and forwarded a note from her when I got home.

Two other announcements:
The first shop hop of the year has been announced.  The "Get Out of the House" shop hop runs from Friday, March 26, 2021 9 AM to Saturday, April 10, 2021 5 PM.   Info can be found at https://www.quiltinghub.com/Events/EventID/1179877.
Normally I would invite those who wanted to go on a day trip to the shops, but I'm still not ready for 5-6 ladies in an enclosed van for a day.   Maybe by summer we can get back to doing a fun road trip.

The other announcement I talked about is a fundraiser Suzie Casta concert, sponsored by the Acknowledging Acts of Kindness club.  The flier is attached to my email. Ray and I have our tickets, so if anyone would like to join us, let me know and I will get you tickets.

A few days ago I sent out a request for patriotic quilts and several ladies delivered, while some others took supplies this afternoon to make one.

Show and Tell

Pat Pipa came with a patriotic quilt top.

Mic Pickard showed her 2nd quilt made from fabric leftover from her 2020 pajama gifts.

Brenda Severa completed the quilt that Deb Chapman and Mary Ellen Boutin designed.

Ceal Pedersen stuffed and finished a bunch of toys that Mic Pickard cut out last week.

Ceal also responded to my patriotic quilt request with 3 completed quilts and a fleece blanket.

Mary Ellen Boutin showed her very first pillowcase and thanked Eileen DiSanto for demystifying the instructions.

Pam Thompson took a stack of 5" squares and, using a "Wanda" design from a GE Quilt Designs demo on YouTube, made some pink quilt blocks.  She is working towards turning them into a quilt.

Jean Piccirillo showed the quilt top she laid out last week, now sewn together.  She still wants to add a border, so we haven't seen the last of this.

I made 2 more drawstring backpacks.

I also finished 2 quilts.  Ellen Hein made the tops, I added borders, batting and backing, quilted them and added the binding.

These 2 quilts are large enough to go to the Sheriff's Youth Ranch graduates.  Two down, 10 to go.  Thanks to Mic, I have backings for 4 more ironed and ready for pinning.
