Club Notes - November 2, 2016

Thanks to Lu Karatzas for running last week's meeting for me. Ray & I got back from our cruise late Saturday afternoon.  I am now a little rested (glad for the time change and the extra hour sleep) and ready to get back to sewing fun.

Here are Lu's notes to me:

15 people came today.

Busy Hands Happy Hearts is having a craft fair/fundraiser Nov. 14 from 12 to 4 at Coconut Cove.

We did a 50-50 raffle ($9.00 for Christmas kitty)

Show and Tell:

Sue Campbell:

Tuxedo protective cover,

chalk board placemats

Bev Minnerly:

Table runner and 3 fidget quilts

Lu Karatzas: Holiday table runner

The e-reader demo went well and one member helped another cut fabric with her 60 degree ruler.  Several people brought in bags of scraps that Sue Campbell and Ellen Hein took home and will return next week.

This week we were supposed to be making Horse Ornaments out of wine corks, but I decided that could wait until December.  I hope you all don't mind, but I thought the casserole carrier would be more useful just before Thanksgiving.   So that is what I am going to demo this week.  Supplies requires are as follows:

Fabric A: two 13" x 36" rectangles (one piece will show as outside of carrier and the other as inside of inner pockets)
Fabric B: one 13" x 44" rectangle (outer surface of inside pockets)
Quilted Ironing board fabric: two 13" x 36" rectangles (carrier lining)
For handles, either
        Fabric C: two 4" x 36" rectangles
or     one 72 inch length of strapping
Velcro or equivalent: 1/4 yd

If you come with your fabric already cut to size, this can be completed in an hour or so.

The directions will be attached to this week's email.  See you on Wednesday.
