October 26, 2016 - Halloween Party

What a fun time we had this afternoon.   For those you who would like a copy of any the pictures, I'll give you a little tech lesson.  If you right click on any photo on the blog, you can select an option to "Save image as" and save it to your computer.  Just make a note of where you save it.

We had a good turnout for the party and there was lots of food.   Nine of our members were brave enough to come in costume.

After having our fill of all the great food, we started show and tell:

Diane Placek  finished her pumpkin applique as a place mat, adding a few nice leaves to the design.

Laura Tomich made two more walker caddies, using up the last of the fabric she choose from our supplies.  She also took a leap and made her first fidget quilts.  Great job!  Laura will be away from us for awhile, helping her son and daughter-in-law decorate their new home.  We look forward to her return in a few months.

Lu Karatzas made her first walker bag and her first dryer sheet blocks.  The dryer sheet blocks evoked discussion as usual.  Lu said she enjoyed making these as a quick project that can be done when there's no time for anything else.

She also showed her completed wreath wall hanging, in her house decor colors.

Ellen Hein completed a Halloween quilt she made from blocks donated last year, and added it to our charity donations.

Eileen DiSanto made a beautiful fidget quilt.

Chris Leedy showed a beautiful wall hanging and the lovely label she created for it.

I finished a honor flight quilt.  I made the top a fewmonths back and finally finished it for donation to the Spring flight.

We rounded out the party with some games. I first challenged the group with a Halloween vocabulary test.  Then we did a scavenger hunt and finished with several games of Halloween bingo.  I did goof by not adding more words to the default Halloween bingo list, so everyone won the cover all.  Luckily I had enough candy prizes for everyone :-))

We had a 50/50 this week to pay for some prizes for our Christmas party and raised $19. The consensus was that we should have a 50/50 every week between now and Christmas so we can get some nice prizes.  I will keep an accounting of the proceeds of this separate from our club supply replacement fund.

Thanks to everyone for the quick and efficient clean up.  I started putting things away and when I turned around the food table was clean and all the tablecloths were folded.  You are all the best!

I will be away next week and Lu will be running the meeting. She will be showing you all how to make a stand for your e-reader or phone.  The instructions are attached to this week's email.

I didn't formally assign anyone, but I hope someone will take pictures of next week's show and tell and send them to be with some notes for next week's blog.
