Club Notes - July 30, 2025

It was good to be back this afternoon. There were 14 of us today, so I think the summer travels may be slowing down.  I brought the 5” squares and blue yardage again, plus a new box of stuffing. Luis, the El Santiago manager, told me that one of the other clubs consolidated their supplies in the storage closet and freed up a shelf, and Luis offered it to us.  I gratefully accepted it.  We can now leave the box of stuffing in the closet, plus a couple of bins of fabric.

Show and Tell:

Mic Pickard introduced her eldest daughter, Barbara, who is visiting this week.

Carolyn Grasso handed in a beautiful quilt top

Louise Stem made some pillowcases, 2 of which will go perfectly with Carolyn’s quilt top.

She also showed a prayer quilt

and the process of making reusable menstrual pads for girls in poor areas.

Diane Placek handed in a quilt top

and showed some zipper bags

and place mats she made for herself.

She also showed a tea bag caddy she is giving to a waitress who admired hers.

Ceal Pedersen showed a zipper bag

and the latest batch of stuffed toys.

B.J. Herter showed a mini-quilt she made for guests at the wedding she attended last week to sign.

She also showed a flower wall hanging the made

and some dino’s she made.

Eileen DiSanto showed 2 cats and a bunny she made, waiting to be stuffed..

Donna Rissman showed two quilts from Moyer Citrus Quilters

and a triangle frenzy table runner and centerpiece she made.

I gave Donna several yards of border fabric a few weeks ago and challenged her to make items for our October sale.  She passed the challenge along by offering to show anyone who is interested, how to make these.  Maybe we can use up this fabric with several ladies working on it.

Ellen Hein brought the latest batch of quilts that she completed the binding on.

The small ones will go to Leesburg hospital

and the large ones will go to storage, to be pulled out and donated in the fall.

She also handed in some more quilt tops for me to back and quilt,

6 sets of receiving blankets and burp pads, and 12 additional burp pads.

For the rest of the afternoon we each worked on whatever we wanted and chatted. B.J. brought some yummy pineapple that she grew herself.

That’s all for now.  Hope to see you next week.

Club Notes - July 16, 2025

It was another low key afternoon. There were 12 of us who came out today.  I brought the 5” squares that have been living in my car, plus a box of blue yardage.  We  also received a small donation of fabric that I added to the bin of small pieces, and a large box of mostly flannel and fleece.

Show and Tell: (https://sewingn-more.blogspot.com/)

Pat Pipa made a quilt from a panel she found in our donations.

Ceal Pedersen showed the latest batch of stuffed toys.

Lenora Holze showed her first pillow case.

Carolyn Grasso brought toys needing stuffing.

Bev Minnerly showed her latest doll body.

Mic Pickard showed a tool bag she made as a gift and package decoration she made.

Eileen DiSanto showed 2 dinosaurs she made, waiting to be stuffed.

For the rest of the afternoon we each worked on whatever we wanted and chatted.  Donna Rissman and Anne Knoff brought yummy cookies.   Everyone got a chance to look through the new donations and a few selected fabric to work with.

That’s all for now.  Hope to see you next week.

Club Notes - July 9, 2025

There were 11 of us who came out today.  There were no announcements.  In addition to the 5” squares, I brought a box of small fabric pieces.  I am going through the several boxes of scraps we have and pulling out any that look large enough to make a toy, pillowcase cuff, or zipper bag.

Show and Tell:

Ellen Hein showed six quilts from Khaki Quilters

and one that I made, that she finished the binding on.

She also showed five quilt tops that she handed in for me to quilt.

Eileen DiSanto showed 2 dinosaurs she made, waiting to be stuffed.

Ceal Pedersen showed her latest quilt.

For the rest of the afternoon we each worked on whatever we wanted. A few ladies showed one of our newer members, Lenora, how to make a pillowcase using the burrito method.

That’s all for now.  Hope to see you next week.
