Club Notes - May 28, 2025

We only had 9 ladies attending again today.  This has been the norm for May, although not always the same 9 ladies.  We had a good show and tell, and an excellent discussion about this year’s fall sale event.  I will send out a separate email on that subject.

We were all happy to see Pat Pipa back with us today.

Show and Tell:

Ceal Pedersen showed a lap quilt she made.

Ellen Hein completed the binding on a bunch of quilts

 and made some pillowcases.

Diane Sacula showed the latest batch of toys she made, along with her friend who embroiders the faces.

Louise Stem made some pillowcases

and some backpack outer pieces with purple 5”  squares.

Pat Pipa showed a couple of scaredy cats and a fidget mat.

Donna Rissman came with a bag full of quilts from Moyer Citrus Stitchers,

and 1 quilt top that she made.

I hope to see you all next week.

Club Notes - May 21, 2025

It was another small group today. Between travelers, those recovering from medical issues, and snowbirds, I expect our numbers to be lower for a few months. Last week I pulled a bin of large bolts of fabric out of storage for Allamanda to use for a Salvation Army request.  There were a dozen bolts in the bin and they only used 2, so I brought the rest in for our ladies to select.  These are still a small portion of what we received last year from a quilt shop that closed.  Several ladies selected fabric from that bin to use.

I also brought the 5” squares, some smaller fabric pieces, and some additions to the large orphan blocks.

Show and Tell:

Mic Pickard showed a drawstring Backpack she made.  She shared that this was the first one she made using the 5” squares and that she enjoyed how easy it was.

Diane Sacula showed some more if the toys she made, along with her friend who embroiders the faces.

Ceal Pedersen brought back another bag of toys that she painted the faces on.

Donna Rissman came with 2 baby quilts, and a dish of peanut butter cookies to celebrate my photo being in the paper.

Bev Minnerly turned in a drawstring Backpack.

Ellen Hein completed the binding on a bunch of baby quilts.

Ellen made these two.

Diane Placek stopped in quickly to drop off some backpacks she finished.  She was on the way to bring her husband to a doctor’s appointment, so couldn’t stay this week.

Mic reported that when she delivered the toys to the Villages Hospital, they were all out of them again.  The last time we dropped some off was 3 months ago, so we probably need to drop toys off more often.

Mic also reported that she got some feedback from the nurse, Diane, who we have been giving things to for the Leesburg Maternity Ward.  The hospital has moved the pediatric ward next to maternity, so now, when she gets a quilt that is a little bigger or less baby fabric, they sometimes give one to a child going home from that ward.

After show and tell, Mic continued helping me decipher a pattern for an apron that has been confusing me.  I got a little further on it after last week’s collaboration.  I think we figured out enough for me to finish it before next week.

I hope to see you next week.

Club Notes - May 14, 2025

We were a small group this afternoon, only 8 of us.  Many of our regulars are traveling.  I brought the same bins of 5” squares and fabric pieces that have been living in my car since last week.  Mic and I pulled a bin of fabric from storage last week for an Allamanda project.  I let Louise look through this to see if she could match some with pieces she had for pillowcases, and she found two that work.  I am looking forward to seeing her finished pillowcases.

Show and Tell:

Louise Stem put together several backpack panels using the 5” squares.

She also showed a prayer quilt she made for a lady in her church.

Ceal Pedersen showed 2 baby quilts she made to sell.

Diane Sacula showed some different toys she made.  A friend of hers embroidered the faces.

After show and tell, Mic helped me decipher a pattern for an apron that has been confusing me.  We made good progress, but it’s not done yet.

Mic delivered 41 dog beds last week. Today I gave her several bags of toys for the Villages Hospital and quilts for the Leesburg Maternity ward.  I love seeing the finished projects going where they are needed.

I hope to see you next week.
