Club Notes - February 2, 2022

Thanks to Mic Pickard for running the meeting this week and sending me these notes and photos.

At this week's meeting of Sewing N More, thirteen of us met to share our latest projects from home and to tackle the two sorting & measuring projects for our piles of fabric.  We had two visitors:  Cinda Habenschuss and Kathryn Jeter.  Cinda was unable to stay for the entire meeting but hopes to return on February 16 to check out joining us in the future.  Kathryn has visited before with Brenda and since she is a part-time resident, will check in with Lois about her future plans to attend and get on the email list.

As usual, it was a busy and productive time as follows:

Show and Tell:

Mary Ellen showed two quilt tops she finished

and another one of her great tote bags she designs from square from our stash.

Ceal showed two finished quilt tops

and three fabulous applique squares she enhanced with beautiful hand quilting to really highlight the amazing applique work done on the squares.  She has already made two of the squares into very unique tote bags and will finish the third one for our next meeting.

Audrey and her daughter Lynne decided to design an embroidery project to finish her kissing fish mug rugs.  She now has the design saved and can finish it with a beautiful satin stitch that she was unable to accomplish with her sewing machine.

Kathryn brought along her table runner project that is still in process

and a wonderful Valentines’ quilt she is still putting together---it currently has an undesignated destination, but will probably be for her daughter.

Ellen tackled her house full of fleece pieces over the last few weeks and has banged out a new batch of fabulous fleece blankets for the next request that comes in---and she hopes to empty the stash of fleece so her space is more manageable.

She also finished her kissing fish mug rugs.

Bev made 2 fidget walker bags with lots of different attachments to pull and touch.

Donna finished her kissing fish project and gifted them as “pets” to a minimalist friend so that he will now have pets 😊

She also finished a quilt top of squares the group designed at the last meeting.

Sorting & Measuring Project:

Thanks to all of you, we were able to measure all the fabric that has been set aside for the Sheriff’s Youth Ranch curtain project.  It is all marked and ready to be shared according to the needs for other cabins, with the Girls Cabin selection completed and awaiting further information to begin construction.

We also sorted through 6 containers of fabric and condensed them down to 4 that can be easily stored & transported to each meeting by Mic.  I’m sure we will see a lot of the larger pieces coming back to meetings in the future as pillowcases and other projects.

Have a great week everyone.

Mic Pickard
