Club Notes - January 5, 2022

Happy New Year!!

We had our first meeting of 2022 this afternoon and 15 ladies came out, including 2 new members.

Laura Tomich stopped in to pick up some fabric that she can work with at home.  Her health is still precarious, so she couldn't stay to mingle with the group, but she continues to sew at home.

I asked Sue Campbell about her sister Jane, and Jane is doing well.  She spent Christmas day with Sue and her husband, and got back to her assisted living apartment late because she just couldn't leave until the end of the football game. :-))

Donna Rissman has been making items for the Ad Litem kids and she gave me an update on what they need. They have been getting pillowcases, but they don't have pillows to put in them!  We got a good supply of fabric this week so I am going to see if I can cut some pillowcase sets out of it.  If anyone would like to purchase some standard size pillows, we will donate them with pillowcases.

Show and Tell:

Lorraine Manz came with a bunch of tote bags

 and zipper bags.

Charlotte Cecillio made 2 blue frogs.

Judy Mayer brought a lap quilt

 and 2 patriotic lap blankets.

Carole Lamb took some of our quilted fabric and made some more zipper bags.

Ellen completed the binding on 3 of the quilts we had in progress.

Pat Pipa made the top for this one.

Carolyn Grasso made this quilt top.

This one Ellen did the quilt top and binding.  I quilted it on my embroidery machine.

Pat Pipa made a bunch of stuffed toys

Mary Ellen Boutin made a tote

and a quilt top from the half-square triangle challenge.

I showed a tote I made

and 3 quilts, one that we designed at a meeting a few weeks ago

and the other 2 as my first attempts at the half-square challenge.
If you remember, I sent out 10 variations on how to design a quilt with half-square triangles.  They are so easy, I have decided to see if I can make all 10.

This week we got a large bin of large pieces of fabric.  Combined with the box of large pieces we already had, the ladies had lots to choose from.  I also brought the 5 inch squares and large blocks.  I saw lots of fabric being collected so I think we will see some interesting projects come back.

Since we are only meeting every other week, I thought a Valentine's Day project would be fun for our next meeting.  I found a cute pattern for Kissing Fish Mug Rugs, so that is the Jan 19th demo.  I will send out the supply list in a separate email.

Remember, no meeting next week. See you on the 19th.
