Club Notes - Jan 2, 2019

Happy New Year!

We had a good turnout in our winter room today. Laura Paulk was back with us after being away for a while and brought her granddaughter Jessica. This sweet little girl was eager to help set up the room and asked lots of questions to find out what each thing we were bringing out was. As ladies arrived she seemed to talk to everyone, and was a pleasure to have with us. Laura told me that her daughter, Jessica's mother has been in and out of the hospital, so they are taking care of the 3 children for now.  Prayers for Laura's daughter's recovery are appreciated.

Show and Tell:

Pat Pipa picked a panel from our stash and made a quilt for donation.

She used the scraps from the quilt to cover one of the wine bags we give to the Ocala Shelter.

Bev Minnerly made a pile of doll clothes.

Lu Karatzas brought a big dog bed.

Eileen DiSanto showed a pillowcase and a quilt she made.  She showed a Daily Sun article from 2012 showing her starting this quilt at Allamanda.  It was her first and she put it away unfinished until now.  Congratulations on finishing this UFO.

Ellen Hein took a bin and a half of fleece that we had in our donation stash, trimmed the pieces and put on binding. The result is 9 blankets for the Panhandle!

Charlotte showed her very first completed quilt.  Yea!

Sharon Gehrke took a pre-printed project panel we had in our stash and finished 1 tote bag, cosmetic case and 2 eyeglass cases, all of which we will donate to the Ocala Shelter.

I took several Christmas stocking panels home and finished 2 large and 2 small stockings.  (I'll hold these aside for next Christmas.)

I also showed 2 children's quilts I made for some of my great-great nephews. There are 3 little boys and 2 little girls in this family, so I have 3 more to finish.  (I'm keeping it simple with panels.)

*******************

Linda Parr led today's demo of a ditty bag made from a place mat and zipper.  It was great and I saw lots of ladies starting this project.

There is no meeting next week because we don't have a room.  I will send out a reminder. Our next meeting is January 16th and Ellen Hein will be showing us how to make the 3 Pocket FQ mini purse.

See you in 2 weeks.
