Today we added 12 quilts and 3 quilt tops to the stash Lynn is delivering to the Panhandle collection.. Some of there came from Allamanda and other quilt groups who brought them to us. In total, 55 quilts came in to Sewing N More in one way or another and were given to Lynn for the January collection. This is in addition to the 14 we gave her in December. Wonderful work ladies!!
Announcements:Thanks to Mic Pickard, Pat Pipa, Lu Karatzas and Diane Placek for volunteering to represent our club at the charity showcase on Feb 2nd. I wish I could be there, but I know we will be well represented.
If anyone is thinking about going on our February shop hops, there are 2 open seats for the Feb 13th trip. I have a full van for the Feb 27th trip, so if anyone else is interested in that one we will do it in 2 cars.
Show and Tell:We had a great, long show and tell list today:
Brenda Severa showed a quilt for the Panhandle that she made and quilted with edge-to-edge embroidery quilting.
Donna Rissman brought in a dog bed and showed a little reindeer she made. She called this fusible fun and will give a demo on this in April.
Pat Pipa had to leave early, but she left a quilt for the Panhandle (made with strips on dryer sheets) and 2 bags for the Ocala Shelter.
Lu Karatzas showed a fleece blanket she made as a start to refurnish her family's camp as it is being rebuilt.
Charlotte Cecilio showed her 2nd ever quilt, made for her grandchild.
Mic Pickard showed a prototype 10 minute placemat. She thought we might make these next year for the Sheriff's Youth Ranches. She will demo this in April.
Bev Minnerly brought in a finished dog bed.
Laura Tomich is back with us after a 6 month stay with her son while she recovered her health. She is now back to living on her own. Today she brought us 4 pillow cases and she sent me photos of the projects she complete while she was away.
Lynn K. showed some microwave potato bags that were in her UFO pile that she finally finished.
Diane Placek showed a casserole carrier she bought at a craft show. This is similar to one Linda Parr showed a few weeks ago. We will put this on the project schedule for later in the year, but for now, here's a link to the instructions: Casserole Carrier
Audrey Phillips showed us several bags made from place mats and wash clothes, giving examples of what can be done with different shapes.
Lynne Delgado showed one of the penguin bags she made for her grandchildren.
Ellen Hein showed a quilt, a fleece blanket for the Panhandle and 2 tote bags she made from disposable medical shorts.
Nella Rose showed the purse she made from place mats.
Diana Gosselin was back with us toady with her usual pile of pillowcases.
I showed a fidget walker bag I made to use as a sample at the Charity Showcase, a half-hexi quilt for the Panhandle,
and 3 children's quilts for some of my great-niece's children.

Ellen Hein gave a great demo of the little origami bag (instructions attached and linked) . I saw lots of these in progress, and I'm hoping to make one myself.
Thanks to several ladies who went through the scraps that came in and filled several dog beds, and to Sue Campbell for helping me with the poster for the Charity Showcase.
Reminder: There is no meeting on Jan 30th, our next meeting is Feb 6. Pat Pipa will be running the meeting since I will be away. Here is our current schedule for the next few months:

For the Feb 6th project Pat will have all colors strips, so you can do the red, white and blue ones or any other colors you like. To make it easier to create a nice quilt, please still use the 1.5" white strip as your center starting strip and make sets of 2, one with the strips left to right and the other right to left.
