Club Notes - December 14, 2022

Thank you all for the Christmas Card and gift.  It is wonderful to know that the things I do are so appreciated.  Not that that would influence me one way or the other.  I love running the club, making new friends, and making things for charitable organizations in our area.  Since I retired and learned to sew it has become my passion.

It seems there was a small group at this week’s meeting.  So close to Christmas, that was to be expected.

Show and Tell:

Ceal Pedersen has taken up the zipper bag challenge and made a bunch of them.

Lorraine Manz made 2 quilt tops.

Ellen Hein made a bunch of Christmas gift bags.

Our next meeting will be our welcome to 2023 potluck party on January 4th.  I will send a reminder email a few days before the party.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

December 7th Club Notes

Sorry for once again not making it to join you all.  It has been a crazy 6 weeks and it hasn’t stopped yet.   My sincere thanks to Mic for holding down the fort while I try to get back on track.   I won’t be able to make next week’s meeting either.  The staples don’t come out of my back until 12/19 and I don’t want to do anything before then.  I am doing ok, no pain meds required, but I do have to be very careful how I move around.  The PT guy gave it to me as no BLT – no bending, lifting or twisting.

Dec 14th will be the last meeting of the year.  I’ve asked Mic to just continue with the zipper bags and making things with the 3.5” squares.  The Sheriff’s Youth Ranch needs lots of zipper bags, both for ranch residents and summer camp attendees, to hold their toothbrushes and other toiletries.

Show and Tell:

Pat Pipa showed a wall hanging she made of her dog and a tote bag she made with 3.5” squares.

Jean Peters made some Christmas money holders.

Ceal Pedersen showed some zipper bags,

a tote,

and several quilts.

Deb Chapman made Christmas Tree Napkins, a table runner, and some tree blocks.

Candy DeGarmo showed a Santa she made in 1964

and 4 quilt squares.

Eileen DiSanto showed photos of a baby quilt she made.

Mary Ellen Boutin made some zipper bags.

Mic Pickard made a tote bag (no picture ).

Ellen Hein made a table runner

and gift bags.

Lorraine Manz showed bags she made and a quilt top.

Audrey Philips made a bag.

People are too busy this time of year so, as usual, there will be no meetings the last 2 weeks of the year.

Starting January 4th we will be back in the Beach Club room instead of the Hula Lounge and we will be on our winter schedule, meeting only the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays.   For various reasons, there was no holiday party this year, so we will have a pot-luck party January 4th to bring in the new year.

I am counting on being with you to celebrate the New Year.
