Club Notes - February 20, 2019

We had a small fun group show up this afternoon.   Mic Pickard gave a great demo of how to make duffel bags.  The instructions are attached to my email.   Several ladies suggested it might be good to put the straps on before the zipper and some of us are going, to try that variation from the instructions.

Once again we got lots of fabric donated over the past week.  I brought in two 56 inch wide bolts of home decor fabric that were donated to us last week.  The smaller of the two was cut up to make the duffel bags.  Anne Knoff and I cut up the larger bolt into 24" x 54" sizes that will make either duffel bags or dog bed sleeves.  I didn't count, but I think we got at least 20 cuts!   Each cut should be enough for 1 bag.  I will bring in a few each week for anyone who wants to make a duffel bag for one of our charities.

Show and Tell:

Bev Minnerly made a walker bag and a a small version of the mega-pini cube that she can take with her.

Eileen DiSanto make a "tulip style" handbag and a baby quilt for donation.

Mic Pickard made a tote bag with outside pockets for an upcoming Busy Hands raffle.

Donna Rissman finished several UFO bags, a great border fabric table runner, and a strip quilt with flannel binding.

Brenda Severa bought a panel of square prints during last week's shop hop and showed a towel she is working on Appliqueing the squares to.

We had a guest visiting today to see what we do.  Millie showed that she made a name tag for herself on plastic canvas, with an opening in the back to display her Villages ID.

I brought a purse, a zipper bag made with Tampa Bay fabric commissioned by one of the shops we visited last week,

and a no-sew owl picture I made.  I also showed a block of the month quilt I have been working on since last April and finally finished yesterday.   All 4 of these projects were from kits I purchased at various shops.

There is no meeting next week.  Those who are going on the shop hop next week will get a separate email.

Our next meeting is on March 6th and the project will be to make a fabric covered box.  More info on that will be sent next week.
